Education Costs and Accommodations

Fees: The comprehensive annual fee for international students covers various services and amenities, with additional costs for NZQA examination fees, medical insurance, and stationery.

For Years 9 & 10: NZ$32,715.00
For Years 11, 12 & 13: NZ$33,300.00

Accommodation: International students have two accommodation options at Timaru Boys’ High School:

Homestay: A supportive environment for students to integrate easily into the New Zealand way of life.
Boarding: Subject to availability at our boarding facility, Thomas House.

Work Rights and Immigration

Student Visa: Full-year students must apply for a student visa through Immigration New Zealand. One-term and Short-term students studying for less than 12 weeks need a general visitor visa. Group students in programs less than 12 weeks require a visitor visa.

Working Rights: Full-year students in Years 12 and 13 can apply for a variation of conditions on their student visa to work up to 20 hours per week and full-time during vacations. This requires written permission from the school and parental consent.
